Well I had a great season on the Saxo! I competed on more events than ever and won a few more pots than before. I won the class in the Welsh Sprint & Hillclimb Championship and the club championship overall (by default though!)

The Saxo is now up for sale and I need to get on with the Westfield!

As the Westfield isn't ready yet and the season has started, I've gone and bought a Citroen Saxo (no laughing please!).

The plan is to run it in the standard production car class until the Westfield is finished.

It's being MOT'd today hopefully then I have a load of jobs to do before Llandow on Saturday!

Single seater rack - 

I havent posted for a while but Merlin has been very busy!

It seems like the assymetric roll cage isn't legal (Blue Book) is pretty vague, as it doesn't protect the passenger seat (there is no passenger seat!).

So, Merlin is removing the hoop and getting a full width bar made up.

Shame!

And the fuel tank plonked in place.

The roll cage is coming on well too!

The gear linkage and flatshifter are now finished.

Front wishbones are done! It's starting to look like a car now! 

The gear linkage / quadrant - just waiting for the flat shift sensor to turn up!

Wooden wheels! Merlin's solution for fabricating the front wishbones!

Pedals! I've acquired these and they are very light - we'll probably replace the bronze bushes with something lighter!

And the fuel tank has been mocked up.

Merlin's finished fitting the engine and mounted the header tank.

And now a seat base - not sure if I'll use it - depends on weight and height!

 

The rack has turned up - single seater one from Dermot Healy.

Merlin tells me that the seat base is very nicley made but is a bit on the heavy side so we won't be using it!

Just grabbed a brand new diff on eBay! It's the right ratio and the right price. 

Picking it up next week hopefully. 

Merlin's been a busy boy!

I've managed to find the history of my chassis! Purely by chance, I met up with Jeremy Davies from Swansea who owned the car when it was crashed! It wasn't his fault! Here's a photo of it after the crash near Builth Wells. The bodywork I had with it wasn't the bodywork that was on the car when it was crashed!

The rear is coming together as well and the diff's going in too.

The chassis is coming together and Merlin's doing the engine mounts now.
